how to audition for the 2020-2021 coyc season
Auditions for the 2020-2021 season will be held via video submission, given the current health and safety concerns surrounding in-person auditions. Students auditioning via video will not be required to audition again in person. Students are strongly encouraged to submit videos given that the season may start online before we are able to resume in-person auditions and rehearsals.
STEP 1
  •   Fill out the audition application. Be prepared to upload a picture of your face with the application (it doesn't have to be professional, a picture from a phone is fine).

STEP 2
  • Prepare your classical solo (no Broadway or pop tunes). Art songs and folk arrangements are also acceptable. If you don't have one that you are working on with a school director or private teacher, we have some suggestions to help you on our solo assistance page.

STEP3
  • When you feel confident in your solo, record a video for submission. Instructions for recording and uploading your video may be found on our video guidelines page.

STEP4

  • The final step will be an interview with the Youth Chorus directors. Interviews will be held on September 13.

  • Be sure to have your video link ready when scheduling your interview. You will be asked to submit your video link when scheduling. If you have any issues submitting your video link, please email chorus@clevelandorchestra.com.

What should you expect in the interview?

The directors will want to hear more about your singing background and why you are interested in COYC. They will also guide you through some simple vocal exercises so they can hear your range and assess pitch-matching ability. You should log in to the interview having already warmed up.
