AUDITION EXCERPT
Required Audition Excerpt
The below information is provided as an example of the materials provided for the most recent round of auditions. If you are considering auditioning in the future, know that a different excerpt will be chosen for the next round.
Prospective singers for the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus are typically asked to prepare an excerpt from a major work in the coming season. Singers are provided with the relevant pages from the score and the same study tracks that chorus members will receive to prepare the work at home. This provides the director a glimpse into your ability to study outside of and prepare for rehearsal.
This year, Dr. Wong chose an excerpt from Mozart's Requiem, which the COC was originally scheduled to perform in October.
Study tracks are provided for each voice part. However, when creating your video recording, please only use the accompaniment track. Note that the tempo of the final accompaniment only track is faster than the other practice recordings.
