2020-21 SEASON OVERVIEW
Children's Choruses 2020-21
REHEARSALS ONLINE IN FALL 2020
Rehearsals will take place online for the entire fall 2020 semester (October - December). We will continue to monitor the status of the pandemic and make decisions for the spring 2021 semester as we receive updated information. Online rehearsals will take place during the usual times: 6:00 to 7:30 pm for the Preparatory Chorus, and 7:00 to 9:00 pm for the Children’s Chorus.
2020-21 SEASON START DATE
The season is set to begin with a virtual parent/guardian meeting on Saturday, October 3 at 1:00 pm. The Children's Choruses will begin online rehearsals on Monday, October 5 during their regular evening rehearsal times.
The directors are working on exciting plans, which include the Children's Choruses performing a virtual concert in
December. Spring 2021 performances will be planned accordingly as we receive updated information about the status of the pandemic. The Children's Chorus will not perform on The Cleveland Orchestra's live Christmas Concerts. However, they are still currently scheduled to perform Verdi's opera Otello with The Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall in May.
TUITION FEES WAIVED FOR FALL 2020
Due to the revised online schedule, tuition fees will be waived for fall 2020. If the Children's Choruses are able to rehearse and perform in person during the spring 2021 semester, fees may be prorated at 50% of the annual cost: $30 ($60 annual fee) for the Preparatory Chorus and $42.50 ($85 annual fee) for the Children's Chorus. Families are never turned away due to financial hardship, and tuition scholarships are readily available through a simple application.
REVISED UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
Choristers will be required to purchase a $12 chorus t-shirt as usual, which will be used for any virtual performances. Choristers will not need to purchase formal uniform attire in fall 2020, but may be required to do so in spring 2021 if the choruses perform in person at a formal concert or event. As previously mentioned, families are never turned away due to financial hardship, and attire scholarships are readily available via an application.
